A shocking-looking cyclops foal born with just one diamond-shaped eye slap bang in the middle of its head has been born in Argentina.
But sadly, the poor young horse died within minutes of its much-talked-about birth. The baby was born in a small village in the Sucre el dia municipality of north-western Argentina – a virtually unknown area to many outside of the country.
Grim photos of the foal shared on social media in October show a huge diamond-shaped eye in the centre of its forehead, while its giant tongue can be seen sticking out from a malformed mouth and nose.

Vets said it would not live long due to breathing problems, with some stating at the time that it wouldn't last more than a few hours. However, a source said that it actually died almost instantly after being born – although it is not clear why, considering the rest of the body appears to be entirely normal.
It is also unclear whether the cruel deformity was caused by a genetic disorder, pollution or illness, causing the embryo to not develop properly in its mother's womb. The photographs reportedly caused a stir after it was shared on social media site Facebook, with local news outlets reporting on the bizarre birth.

There have been no further updates on the tests performed on the body of the horse since its sad death, and disputes remain online about the exact location the foal was born and whether or not that impact on the strange occurrence.
