Driver of blue BMW sought by Calgary police after deadly motorcycle crash

Calgary police are looking to the public for help identifying a potential witness to a deadly motorcycle crash last weekend.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, on northbound Macleod Trail at Spiller Road Southeast.

According to police, the motorcycle was heading north when it hit the metal roadside barrier, killing the driver.

In a Friday news release, police said CCTV footage from the area shows a vehicle believed to be a distinctive, bright blue, newer model, three or four series BMW sedan travelling near the motorcyclist at the time of the collision.

“The vehicle is not believed to be involved in the collision but may have valuable information to assist in the investigation,” police stated.

Calgary homicide detectives investigate deadly stabbing in Penbrooke Meadows

Calgary police are hoping to determine the motive in a deadly fight in the community of Penbrooke Meadows on Sunday evening.

According to police, officers were called to the 200 block of 52 Street Southeast at around 10 p.m. for reports of a man in medical distress.

In a news release, police said the victim was severely injured when officers arrived at the scene and that the individual was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Police told Global News the victim was stabbed.

After speaking with witnesses, investigators believe the incident took place in a parking lot outside of the 7-Eleven in the 5300 block of 8 Avenue Southeast.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and say an autopsy will be conducted on Monday.

As of Monday morning, police said no suspects were in custody but told Global News they have identified a person of interest.

Stabbing victim rushed to hospital from Calgary hotel: police

Calgary police are investigating a stabbing on Tuesday that sent one man to hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the victim ran into a hotel lobby in the 7000 block of Macleod Trail Southeast at around 3:30 a.m. and asked staff for help.

Investigators said the victim had a stab wound to his head.

At this time, it’s not known where the stabbing occurred.

Police are in the process of speaking with witnesses and are asking anyone with information to call their non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
