Trolls resurrect vile rumour James Hewitt is Harrys dad as Netflix doc airs

Trolls have restarted the rumour that James Hewitt is Prince Harry's dad following the release of a new Netflix documentary.

After Princess Diana confirmed her affair with the former British Army officer during her now-infamous interview with Panorama, there were widespread suggestions that Harry wasn't really Charles' son, citing the Duke of Sussex's ginger hair as evidence he was the product of an affair.

But despite both Diana's former lover and her bodyguard denying that Harry was James' baby, claiming he was born before the affair began, it hasn't stopped trolls from re-emerging to resurrect the rumours.

One troll wrote: "Prince Harry is allowing Meghan Markle to trash the Royal Family because in my opinion… King Charles isn’t his Dad. Diana’s lover James Hewitt is… So he doesn’t care…"

Meanwhile another chimed in: "He's so obviously James Hewitt's son…"

Another added: "We all know [Harry's] job is being James Hewitt's son, pretending to be a royal.”

Other Twitter users dammed the trolls rumours with one saying: "Look nothing similar, except for ginger hair."

While one other user commented: "interesting, especially considering that Diana and Hewitt did not meet until two years after Harry was born. Find another fire to fan!"

Hewitt and Diana's affair reportedly spanned five years, from 1986 to 1991 – beginning two years after Harry's birth in 1984.

The trolling comes following the release of the first three episodes of Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix docuseries, simply titled Harry and Meghan, in which Harry recalls troubling moments from his childhood.

In the documentary, the prince recalled the "gradual" process of realising his family was "different" and remembered his mother – as well as the harrowing events following her death, including her funeral.

"When my mum died, we had two hats to wear," Harry recalled.

"One was two grieving sons wanting to cry, grieve, and process that grief because of losing our mum.

"And two was the royal hat, no emotion, get out there, meet people, shake hands."

The documentary also saw Harry draw comparisons between his late mum and his wife, Meghan, claiming both received similar treatment at the hands of the Royal Family.

In the first episode of the six-part series, Harry is heard saying: “So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum.

"She has the same compassion, she has the same empathy, she has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her."

He added: "I knew I had to do everything to protect my family, especially after what happened to my mum."
