Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims a Russian missile was fired at civilians waiting for a bus.
The strikes hit a bus stop in Kherson, a coastal city in the south of Ukraine, on February 21, which the city’s council said claimed the lives of five people and put 16 more in hospital.
As Putin told elites in a speech that the West was to blame for the loss of life in Ukraine, his Ukrainian counterpart hit back in an Instagram post showing the horrific scene in Kherson, writing in the caption: “The world cannot forget for a moment that Russian cruelty and aggression have no limits.

“The terrorist state will be responsible for all its inhumane crimes against our people and Ukraine”, he added.
In the pictures posted to social media, at least one body can be seen lying on the pavement in a pool of blood, while another person lies on the ground injured, their clothes clearly damaged in the blast.
A second body is seen half covered in a foil blanket.
The Daily Star has chosen not to publish these particular photos due to their disturbing nature.
The building next to the bus stop has been ripped apart too, with debris scattered across the street and further damage from the strike extending down the street.
Journalists with Agence France-Presse also reported seeing dead bodies covered with plastic sheets or foil blankets on the streets near the bus stop.

The bloody scene comes just a few days before the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Since the country was invaded, bodies have piled up on both sides of the conflict, with the New York Times reporting that 200,000 troops had been killed so far.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has so far verified a total of 7,199 civilian deaths, which include 438 children.
