A royal commentator has claimed that the Royal Family is developing a strategy to deal with the ongoing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle saga ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations next June.
The couple have repeatedly hit out at their time within the Royal Family since stepping back as senior royals.
In their chat with Oprah Winfrey, they alleged an unnamed member raised concerns about the colour of Archie's skin, bemoaned the perceived lack of protection against press scrutiny as well as bravely opening up about their mental health struggles.
Harry has since revealed he will be releasing an “accurate and wholly truthful” memoir in late 2022 – sparking apparent anxiety among those in the royal circles.
Reports have even claimed that the Queen has ordered her aides to speak to libel lawyers regarding any possible attacks from the Sussexes.
Now, royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths has claimed that this move is the result of needing to make careful plans for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Speaking on the Mail’s Palace Confidential podcast, she said: “It’s so important, she’s the first monarch ever to make it to 70 years.
“She’s 95, and they have to just be in a good place for this Jubilee celebration next year.
“And she’s very wise to be planning in advance and being strategic about this, and just making sure the Palace and the Royals are looking clean as a whistle and ready to be on parade.”
Also commenting on how the Queen might approach the relationship with Harry and Meghan ahead of the celebration, royal commentator Richard Eden suggested that the royals might even employ a charm offensive towards the couple.
“I do think all this talk about Harry and Meghan not being invited to events for the Platinum Jubilee and that sort of thing, they will turn out not to be the case,” he claimed.
“The palace will make an extra effort to try to include them because they want to keep them on board.
“I know they’re being almost threatened by the racism stuff, but they have to show they’re above that I think.”
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations will begin on June 2 and continue until June 5 in 2022, with a special four day bank holiday weekend to mark the occasion.
