Prince Harrys sex behind pub claim in doubt after actor says he knows woman

One of the most notorious stories from Prince Harry’s memoir “Spare” is the tale of how the young prince had his first sexual experience with an “older woman” in a field behind a “very busy pub”.

Now, award-winning actor Rupert Everett has cast some doubt on the accuracy of Harry’s tale.

Everett, a patron of the British Monarchists Society and Foundation, has revealed: “I know who the woman he lost his virginity to is. And it wasn’t behind a pub. And it wasn’t in this country.”

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Everett declined to name the lady involved, but says “I’m just putting it out there that I know”.

Several contenders have been put forward as the “woman behind the pub”.

Actress and producer Liz Hurley, former model Suzannah Harvey, and interior designer Catherine Ommanney have all firmly denied rumours that they had been the mystery woman.

Everett added that reading the Duke of Sussex’s book had changed the way he thought about Harry: “It’s made me change my view,” he said. “I was angry before, and now I just feel very sad – sad for Harry. I felt so sympathetic towards him for years and I still do now.

Referring to Harry’s claims about his combat exploits in Afghanistan, Everett said: “As someone who has put his foot in it quite a bit, I feel particularly bad for him about the Taliban thing.

“That changed everything and loses him the one group that still loved him.”

Several senior military figures have expressed their disappointment that Harry had “boasted” of his Afghanistan kill count.

Colonel Richard Kemp, former commander of British forces in Afghanistan, was sceptical about Harry’s claim in an interview with US TV’s Stephen Colbert that he had revealed the information because he wanted to "give space to others to share their experiences without any shame".

Colonel Kemp said: “His explanation might have been more credible if he’d included it in his book.”
