Prince George to be kept out of limelight after harsh criticism of youngster

Prince George will be kept "out of a limelight" after a barrage of social media abuse was aimed at him, according to a royal expert.

Robert Jobson, who co-authored Diana: Closely Guarded Secret, told Sunrise TV show in Australia that the young prince was mocked for wearing a suit and tie in the VIP box at the England vs Italy Euro 2020 final on Sunday (July 11).

The seven-year-old watched the nail-biting match with his dad Prince William and mum Kate Middleton at his side and was filmed cheering when England's Luke Shaw scored the first goal at Wembley Stadium.

Unfortunately, some people decided to aim some criticism at the youngster and, according to the royal expert, he will now be kept away from the public eye.

Mr Jobson said: "With George, he got quite a lot of social media attention.

"Some were critical about him wearing a shirt and tie like his dad which I thought was very harsh.

"He has been very popular but I think they are going to try and keep him out of the limelight a little bit.

"They are very conscious of that. The pictures were great with his dad when he was celebrating for that all too brief moment."

Commenting on pictures of Prince George at the match that were uploaded on Twitter, one user said: "Hahahahahaahahahaha hope the little twerp cries into his tie."

A second commented: "And this royal turnout is supposed to make Scotland want to stay in the union? Absolutely not."

"Why the sour faces is just a game," blasted a third.

"F*** the royal family," someone else said.

Another user said: "Someone needs to bully this kid. Just so he can grow up normal."

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Kate Middleton and Prince William "disagreed" over George's outfit at the football match.
