Scientists have found the average size of a penis is growing – but they're concerned about the reason why.
A recent study published in The World Journal of Men’s Health analysed penile length data from 75 studies conducted between 1942 and 2021, encompassing some 55,000 men.
It found the average length of an erect member was 13.93cm, which is just under 5.5 inches.

However, the data also showed average erect penis length increased by 24% over the past 29 years, from 4.8 inches (12.1cm) to 6 inches (15.24cm).
As much as that might sound like fantastic news for blokes, there are worries about why that might be.
Study author Dr Michael Eisenberg, a professor of urology at Stanford Medicine, thinks it may show that environmental factors – such as pollution or chemical-laden food – are impacting our downstairs regions.
Those factors are also causing a decline in sperm count, although the two changes aren't necessarily directly related.
Researchers also theorised that the increase in penis length could be due to our lifestyles becoming more sedentary.
Dr Eisenberg said: "Any overall change in development is concerning, because our reproductive system is one of the most important pieces of human biology.
"If we're seeing this fast of a change, it means that something powerful is happening to our bodies.
"We should try to confirm these findings and if confirmed, we must determine the cause of these changes.
"There could be a number of factors at play, such as chemical exposure, like pesticides or hygiene products, interacting with our hormonal systems.
"These endocrine-disrupting chemicals – there are many – exist in our environment and our diet."
Environmental factors have also been linked to the fact that boys and girls are going into puberty earlier, which can affect genital development, he added.
