A man who used a sock to choke a nine-year-old girl before raping her in an isolated bush has been sentenced to life in prison, after luring the young girl out and leaving her for dead.
Dwayne Claude Bond, 48, had lured the young girl into the bush in Brisbane, Australia, where she was raped and left for dead with a sock stuck in her mouth.
Reports indicate that during the horrific attack, Bond had told the terrified victim she was going to be a "virgin sacrifice".
Crown Prosecutor Michael Gawrych said Bond "obviously thought he had done enough to kill her" during the attack on December 12, 2016.
Justice Applegarth said that the young girl would have been terrified and said to Bond: "You told this poor child that you were two million years old, and you watched Jesus die on the cross and that she was a virgin and you were going to sacrifice her.
"One can only imagine the terror that threat inflicted on a nine-year old girl. No one, and you in particular, should forget that you threatened to sacrifice this girl.
"You sexually and physically assaulted her in a horrible way."
Justice Applegarth added that the "poor little girl" had made it to a friend's house at 1am after regaining consciousness.

The court heard that when the young girl arrived at her friend's house, she was shivering, her face was bruised and swollen and the sock was still tied tightly around her neck.
Bond, who pleaded guilty to attempted murder, three counts of rape, including anal rape, indecent treatment of a child under 12, assault causing bodily harm and deprivation of liberty, had strangled a vulnerable ex-partner two days before the attack.

After leaving the girl, Bond stole a taxi and a car, threatening the drivers with a knife.
His sentencing was delayed by one day in an incident where Bond had smuggled a razor blade from prison and cut himself.
Bond has an extensive criminal history prior to the attack including domestic violence offences, offences arising out of a siege and the serious assault of a doctor, Daily Mail reported.
He was sentenced to life in prison and will be eligible for parole after 15 years.
