A man has died after being punched and stamped on in a street attack, with police now searching for four people.
Simon Whisker, 40, was involved in a fight with four men at around 1.30am on Wednesday, July 1 on London Road in Croydon, south London.
He was taken to hospital where he received treatment and was discharged.
However, on Monday, July 13, less than two weeks later, he was taken to hospital again and died in the early hours of the morning.
Police have now released CCTV images of four men they would like to speak to following the incident.
Detective Constable Jo Cheung, from the South Area CID, said: “The victim became involved in an altercation with a group of males and was viciously assaulted.
“We are not treating this as a murder inquiry at this time. We just want to find out who was responsible for the attack on Simon.
“I am asking the public to contact us if they recognise any of these males.”
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by Met Police officers.
A special post-mortem examination has taken place and officers await the findings.
The South Area Command Unit have made extensive enquiries but have made no arrests. They are still establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
