Man, 23, kicked out of upscale nightclub goes on shooting rampage killing one

A man has shot six people, killing one, after getting kicked out of an ‘upscale’ nightclub in the early hours of Tuesday morning, authorities have said.

The suspected gunman, whom the police identified as Keshawn Maurice Dawson, opened fire shortly after 12:30am on September 7 outside Enigma Club and Lounge in Wichita.

NBC News reports that the slain man was identified as 34-year-old Preston Spencer, with Dawson still on the loose.

According to the police, Dawson, 23, was reportedly kicked out of the club due to a “disturbance”, allegedly returning sometime later and firing multiple rounds through the windows from outside.

Spencer’s wife, Kendra, said in a statement that her husband could “light up a room just by walking in and saying hello”, KSN reports.

She added: “Preston was one of the greatest gifts I was blessed to have, and he gave me two beautiful children to share this life with.

“There is nothing that can bring him back, but he will live on in the legacy that he leaves behind.

“Our family and friends, and the Wichita community will always remember all the laughs and joy Preston brought into our lives on this side of Heaven. We all gained an angel to watch over us.”
