Prince William and wife Kate Middleton are actually related, a bombshell investigation has rediscovered.

The family of the Princess of Wales has a history of coal miners who worked at a mine owned by the-late Queen mother's Bowes-Lyon family.

Half of the family owned the mines, while the other half worked in them.

The latter half ended up being that of Kate's lineage – making them fourteenth cousins once removed through Prince William's mother, or fifteenth cousins through King Charles.

And this was, according to the Daily Mail, only because the Middleton family lineage ended up being on the poor side of the family.

Kate's very distant related if William Blakiston.

His sons, Sir Ralph and Nicholas went their separate ways and ended up with two very different lives.

The former married Margaret Fenwick in the 1600s, and spawned a dynasty of wealth – which later lead to Royalty in the former of Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon who married King George VI.

They birthed the-late Queen, who married the-late Prince Philip, and they had King Charles.

But on the other side, Mr Blakiston married Jane Porter, with their family ended up on the poorer side of life and working in the coal mines.

Skip forward 11 generations, and you end up with the parents of the Princess of Wales, Carole Goldsmith marrying Michael Middleton.

Although the Daily Mail claims this is new information, Channel 4 actually made the discover in 2011 through work with Cracoft's Peerage.

Patrick Carcoft-Brenna, editor of the online reference organisation, said: “Her (Kate's) great-great-grandmother, Frances Elizabeth Greenhow, was the 10 x great-granddaughter of Sir William Gascoigne, a Yorkshire knight who died in 1487.

“He married Lady Margaret Percy, 4th and youngest daughter of Henry Percy, Earl of Northumberland.

“The Earl descended from King Edward III through both his parents. Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana both descend from Sir William Gascoigne and his wife Lady Margaret.

“This makes William and Kate fourteenth cousins once removed through his mother and fifteenth cousins through his father.”
