A royal expert has claimed that Princess Diana was "fixated" on Camilla from the moment she married Prince Charles.
Even though she was set to tie the knot to Charles in 1981, Diana was already apprehensive about his closeness to Duchess Camilla, according to royal commentator Julie Montagu.
Montagu believes that the fixation was “always there in the back of her mind” but became more apparent on the “wedding day itself”.
“The fixation started on the wedding day because we know that Diana looked out at the enormous congregation with thousands of people,” she told US Weekly.
“And she saw [Camilla], she looked for her and in one sense, it was looking at her saying, ‘Right, he’s mine. I’ve got him.'”
The royal commentator went on to say that Diana tried to boost her confidence during the ceremony.
She said: “She wanted to make sure that she clocked Camilla in that congregation so that she could feel comforted by the fact that she’s at the vicar and Camilla’s in a pew."
The pair later separated in 1992 after rumours continued to mount surrounding their marital issues and their divorce was confirmed to the public four years later.

According to Montagu, who is promoting her appearance in CNN’s Diana series, Camilla was frequently present in Diana’s life throughout the marriage.
At the age of 36, Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in 1997, leaving behind her sons Prince Harry and Prince William.
Charles and Camilla later announced their plans to tie the knot seven years after the disastrous crash.
