Death Rows most hated killer has Diana shrine as hes loved her for years

Death row's "most hated killer" is obsessed with Princess Diana and kept a shrine to her in his cell because he has "loved her for years".

Fredrick Baer, 49, from Indianapolis, is a murderer convicted of killing Cory Clark, 26, and her 4-year-old daughter Jenna in February 2004.

Baer was convicted of robbing and attempting to rape Ms Clark, before slashing the throats of both her and her young daughter at their rural home in Madison County, Indiana.

The killer was sentenced to death in June 2005, and held in Indiana State Prison – but after a number of appeals the death sentence was reversed in 2018 and he is now serving two life sentences.

But his status as a child killer has made life difficult for him as he is regarded as an outcast among his fellow inmates.

Reluctant to leave his cell, Baer has added some decor to make it seem homier – including a shrine to the Princess of Wales, whom he compared to Jesus or Mother Theresa in Trevor McDonald's 2018 documentary The Most Hated Man On Death Row.

When asked why he had all those pictures of Diana, he said: "She has been a life-long love of mine since I was like 10 or 11 years old since I saw her get married to Charles.

"I've followed her all my life… because of her heart and what she represents.

"She's just one of those people like Mother Theresa or Jesus for that matter, you know?

"She just made an impact on not only that one part but the whole world."

The inmate said his second love was his cat Lucky, who he got from a prison pet adoption programme.

The programme was set up to help inmates feel like they have some form of responsibility while serving their sentences despite them being known killers.

According to veteran journalist Trevor McDonald, the inmates would be far more likely to kill each other than kill a cat.
