A politician who went viral after posing next to a piece of penis graffiti in a bizarre video has triumphed in a local election.

Tiger Patel, known as "the BoJo of Blackburn", was filmed walking around a local playground in Blackpool ahead of the May 6 vote.

At one point, The Tory candidate is seen climbing onto a slide and giving viewers a piece symbol.

Mr Patel was unaware he was stood right next to some “fruity” penis graffiti.

Julian Arnold, chairman of the Blackburn Conservative Association, told the PA news agency: "At the end of the day, when Tiger did the video, he didn't notice the fruity graffiti, but that says it all for us.

"That's what's happening: these community facilities are being vandalised, are being wrecked, and the graffiti says it all – little kids play on there."

He won his seat for the Audley and Queen's Park ward, beating the Labour incumbent Maryam Batan by 1,209 votes to 1,096.

Mr Patel has become well known locally for similar videos highlighting what he says are some of the main issues in the area, including fly-tipping, potholes and the state of local facilities.

He previously ran as an independent but said he was moved to run as a Conservative this time.

"I'm inspired by Boris Johnson," Mr Patel said.

"He's popular, and I'm also popular in Blackburn. Somebody said I was the BoJo of Blackburn."

Speaking after the victory, Mr Arnold said Mr Patel's videos have proved the power of publicity.

"It's a masterful stroke… he's actually a local politician we see doing something," Mr Arnold said.

"He's making some more videos today and he's going to continue making the videos, as he does projects, as he achieves things in the world… that's how he wants to connect with his voters and I think it's fabulous."

Earlier this week, London mayoral candidate Count Binface told the Daily Star that he plans to conquer the entire country.

The Count has a number of eye-catching policies for the capital, including renaming London Bridge after Fleabag star Phoebe Waller, applying for London to join the EU and tackling hunger in the capital by banning shops from selling croissants for more than £1.

He also thinks that the Royal Family have too many palaces and should give most of them up to house the homeless, adding: “I’ll let them keep whichever one they like best, and they can gift the rest to the nation. I’m fair like that.

"Prince Andrew, though, there’s a contender for the Phantom Zone…"

We asked if he had any other secret policy plans up his sleeve, Count Binface responded: ‘I’ll repair Hammersmith Bridge and rename that one Wayne, after the ex-England footballer.

“I also have a good mind to rename the city’s main sewers after ministers in the Johnson Government."
