Anti-vaxxer who tried to use fake arm to avoid Covid jab says life is ruined

An anti-vax dentist who attempted to evade vaccination by using a fake arm has claimed that his life has been "ruined" by the barmy ploy, according to reports.

Guido Russo, 57, used a silicone prosthetic at a vaccine centre in Italy to try and trick a nurse, the Corriere della Sera newspaper reported.

From behind a door of a villa Russo told reporters: "Go away, you have ruined my life.

Adding: "Go away, I’ll call the carabinieri (Italian police)."

The nurse uncovered the fake arm and was told by Russo that he didn't want the vaccine but needed the green pass to work, la Repubblica reported Sunday.

This is not Russo's first time being probed for attempted fraud as back in 2016 he and a dental technician were accused of practicing dentistry illegally, la Repubblica reported.

Franco Ferrero, president of the Biella medical association said: "In action like this would be serious for anyone, but it is even more serious because it offends our profession and our order.

"It is a lack of respect towards those who in these two years of pandemic have worked with self-denial and a spirit of service even at detriment to his own health."

The nurse, Filippa Bua, said Russo had insulted medical professionals with his ploy, referring to the prosthetic as a "stage costume".

"I am incredulous and very stressed," Bua told Corriere della Sera.

"In the last few weeks, everyone who shows up for the first dose of the vaccine, they are angry with the ‘system’ and feel obligated. My colleagues and I try to lower the level of tension by not giving our side to any provocation.

"But I’m really tired and just as sorry to see these people who do not understand how much the vaccine is essential to protect their health, and their loved ones.”

Russo attempted to trick the nurse with a fake limb he found on Amazon for around $564 (£425), New York Post reports.

The dentist was reportedly unable to work "for some time" due to his refusal to get vaccinated but has now been suspended while he is investigated for fraud, Corriere della Sera reported.
