In one of the Prime Minister’s first major international roles since entering Number 10 last month, Ms Truss is expected to encourage allies to cut all energy dependence on Russia.

The Prime Minister is also thought to be preparing to hold talks to secure the UK with energy supply and to tackle migration.

In the first meeting of the so-called European Political Community, Ms Truss will attempt to unify allies by saying: “Europe is facing its biggest crisis since the Second World War.

“We must continue to stand firm – to ensure that Ukraine wins this war, but also to deal with the strategic challenges that it has exposed.”
